چکیده
An analysis of a passive seismic method for subsurface imaging is presented, in which ambient seismic noise is employed as the source of illumination of underground scatterers. The imaging algorithm can incorporate new data into the image in a recursive fashion, which causes image background noise to diminish over time. Under the assumption of spatially-incoherent ambient noise, an analytical expression for the point-spread function of the imaging algorithm is derived. The point-spread function (PDF) characterizes the resolution of the image, which is a function of the receiving array length and the ambient noise bandwidth. Results of a Monte Carlo simulation are presented to illustrate the theory.

Introduction: driving is such a complex cognitive task that requires a high level of vigilance and response to an emergency. Anything that leads to cognitive performance degradation in the driver's mental processing, increases crash risks. Traffic noise as one of the most destructive elements of cognitive function was examined in this study. Methods: In this study, the sample consisted of 80...
متن کاملFree-field Virtual Psychoacoustic and Hearing Impairment: Paper 775 Does learning a room’s reflections aid spatial hearing?
Sound reflections are abundantly present in everyday environments; yet, our spatial hearing abilities are usually not impaired by them. One contributor to this robustness is the adaptation to the reflections after being repeatedly exposed to the room’s reverberation. The echo threshold, the delay at which a reflection starts being separately audible as an echo, increases with repeated exposure ...

متن کاملHearing Conservation among Classical Musicians; Needs, Means and Attitudes
Noise is usually defined either unwanted sound or sound that is harmful to the hearing. Earlier studies have shown that musicians are exposed to sound levels that can be harmful to hearing, and thus music can be considered as noise. Studies have also shown that musicians have hearing problems due to prolonged music exposure. This is also the case among classical musicians. According to the new ...
متن کاملSpatial Data Structures for Dynamic Acoustic Virtual Reality
Over the last decades Virtual Reality (VR) technology has emerged to be a powerful tool for a wide variety of applications such as rapid prototyping, evaluation, therapy, or training tasks. For high quality auralizations (in analogy to visualization) of virtual environments, methods of Geometrical Acoustics (GA) are mostly applied to simulate the propagation of sound inside enclosures. By adapt...
